Teen Event
On April 19th from 4:00-5:00 P.M. the South Parkersburg Library is hosting its second Diverse Reads for Teens Book Club. We are reading The Hate U Give by: Angie Thomas. As part of this group’s intent to highlight diverse titles in Young Adult Fiction, April’s book deals with topics such as racism, police brutality, black culture, poverty, and social action. This book has won awards such as the William C. Morris Award, the Printz Award, and the Edgar Award for Best Young Adult as well as honors such as the Coretta Scott King Book Award, the Carnegie Medal, and the National Book Award for Young Adult Literature longlist.
We have a limited amount of physical copies available to check out, but the book is also available on our digital services Hoopla and WV Reads (Libby app). We will have popcorn available while we sit and chat about the book. Bring a friend! Read the book, and discuss your thoughts!
